Floor Scissors?
Friday we saw a yard sale that looked liked they had a lot of tools. So, of course, we had to stop! And look what we found for $5 bucks!! Weed cutters! David expects they are from the 50's or 60's. What a great invention! They are surprisingly easy to squeeze and very sharp! Cuts weeds like butter!! I call them my floor scissors! Cool huh?

Kitty helps in the Garden!
I am so happy that spring is here and I can get out in my Garden Shed! The other day I started a few pots with some petunias, geraniums, & some purslane. Cornbread really enjoys helping with my plants, can't you tell?
What? You can't see him? Here's a close-up for you! Well, maybe he's dreaming about helping me!! Oh, in case you are wondering, he is about 18 lbs of pure love and affection!!

A Cow Ant in my Garden!
It's been so hot lately that I haven't been in the garden as much (except in the evenings to water). But the other day I wondered out there while walking the girls and I saw a big cow ant! We see cow ants all the time around here, but maybe some of you don't so I thought I'd share this photo. This one is about the size of a large paper clip. Don't ever let one of these bite you. It can be very painful, or so I have heard. They are hard to kill too. You can just about beat it to death without it even flinching. You can even cut it in half and both ends will keep crawling. The back end will give out first though. If you leave them alone though, they will just keep passing through on their merry way, just doing their cow ant thing. Ps. I don't usually kill them, unless they charge at me! =)

The sunflowers are looking so pretty! The white stuff you see was liquid sevin dust. I hope I didn't get too much on there!

Wildflowers from a box!
Granny bought a box of wildflower seeds from the Dollar General for $1.00! This is what she got! They are about 5ft tall and just stunning! They look like crepe paper ... so thin and delicate!
Does anybody know what kinds these are? I took bunches of shots! Enjoy!

More Daylilies!
I planted three varieties of daylilies this year. You already saw the bright yellow with orange details a few days ago. Well..... look what I have now!! This is a beautiful deep red, it takes my breath away!

It's Strawberry Season!!
My friend, Bina and I went not far down the road to Jacob's Produce to pick our own strawberries! I got a bucket full and they are so sweet! I hand picked and chose each one based on it's deep red color and perfect shape and size!

Red Petunias!
These red petunias have really flourished since I planted them in this blue pot. They've grown so quickly! Always remember to pinch off the spent blooms because that encourages new blooms to pop up!

Hostas
I am a big hosta fan! They are bulbs and that is my favorite kind of gardening! Because you plant them once and they come back every year! Hostas grow great in really shady areas and last from spring until fall. They can take a little bit of morning sunlight only. They are grown for their beautiful leaves. They do have blooms during summer, but they are not that spectacular so I choose to clip them off and let the nutrients go to leaves instead. Afterall, I love them for their leaves! I purchased all of my hostas last year in 3 gallon buckets pretty much already grown. I planted them in some shady spots. This spring when they came up... where I planted 1 plant, 5 to 7 shoots came up in it's place!! I'm sure, as with most bulbs, after a couple years I will need to dig them up and divide them. But it's worth it because it's like getting FREE plants!!
Here a few of my hostas... excuse the powdery 7-dust on the leaves but if I don't keep them dusted something will have a buffet on them at night.
This first one is called "Paul's Glory" (I think!)

This beauty is called "Sum & Substance" This is one of the giant hosta varieties. These leaves can reach a foot across!! I can't wait!!

I don't know the name of this one.. anyone have an idea? Faye?? =)

Daylilies in bloom!
This was the first daylily to bloom this season! Of course when I bought these bulbs I didn't realize they where the asiatic daylilies. I was wanting the traditional variety. Anyway, I'm delighted with how beautiful these are! I can't wait to see the other colors!
