TD10 Photo Card Challenge

Here is my card for the newest Tiffany Doodles Challenge! It's a photo inspiration challenge and here is the photo! (from pottery barn):

I used the Forsythia & PussyWillow Digi stamp set!  I colored with copics and inked the edges with distress ink! I also distressed the edges with my scissors!  I hope you like this card and find it inspiring!!  =)

Here are a few deets on my card here!  First, I used Peet's flower card template!  Thank you girly!  I printed my copic marker digi image onto neenah classic crest 80# cardstock and then colored with .... copics!  I printed the sentiment from photoshop.  And I used my Bow Easy to tie the tiny yellow bow!  Pretty simple little card!

January Card Challenge for Tiffany Doodles

I was so excited to finally use this cute little sleeping fawn digital stamp that I drew a while back!  This little guy just melts me!!  He's so cute hiding in the grass!  Here are a few of my supplies I used to make this card!

2011 Calenders from Tiffany Doodles

I'll start with a reminder for all of my crafty friends out there!  Tiffany Doodles is holding an open call for new Design Team members through the month of November.  Get all Design Team details here.

November is here and it's time for another Tiffany Doodles Challenge! We are doing something a little different this month! The challenge is to make "anything but a card"! The Tiffany Doodles design team has come up with some amazing creations and you really must check them out! I decided to create a 2011 calender in 2 different styles! 1) a cd case and 2) 1 page trifold. Both using digi stamps from Tiffany Doodles!

CD Case Calender

For the CD case calender I created a backdrop scene using several stamps, Grass, Label, Lamb, Singing Birds, Birdies & Housework, Sunny Face, & Clouds Set.  I also used the calf digistamp on the back cover. I assembled the stamps in Photoshop in a document 300dpi, 4.75"x5.4" (or 1425x1620).

For the calender dates I also assembled those in Photoshop and printed on regular copy paper.  You can purchase the calender template here and the calender backdrop here.  After printing the calender dates I rounded the corners and attached with diamond brads.  To change the months simply undo the brads and move the top month to the bottom of the stack, then replace brads.  I colored the backdrop with copics in all kinds of colors!  Too many to mention, but you get the idea!  The back cover contains a shameless plug for anyone that might see your calender and admire it!  =)  The CD cases came from Papertrey Ink (5 for $3).

1 Page Tri-fold Calender

For the 1 page calender I used 9 digi stamps from Tiffany Doodles! Lotus w/Blossom, Zinnia Bloom w/Blossom,  Petal Bloom w/Blossom, Hummingbird, Warbler, Warbler 2, Lilystems w/Oval, Dahlia w/Oval, & Poppy w/Oval. This fun little calender will fit on 1 sheet of paper, then you score it, fold it and just flip it every 4 months!  This template is available here.  I colored all the digis with copics and then gave each one a little extra zing with stickles glitter!  I created a PDF template of this calender too!  1 Page Tri-fold Calender PDF tempate.

TD05 - Fall Theme Challenge

Everyone is celebrating the cooler weather these days so for the Tiffany Doodles October challenge we are doing a Fall Theme! For my card I used one of my brand new Fall digital stamps! I drew this little fall tree in Photoshop as I saw it in my head! =) I put it inside the Fall Leaf label (for this card I removed the leaf from the middle of the label).  I colored the tree and around the tree with my Copics.  Then used my Prismacolor Pencils and deepen some of the blues around the edges.  This is the first time I've tried this technique and will definitely do more of this in the future and with different mediums!  Hope you like my card this time!!  If you enjoy making cards, join us in the fun card challenge and you could win some digital stamps from my store!!

Copics w/ Colored Pencil Overlay Tutorial!

Welcome members of the WhatsDigitalStamping? Yahoo group!! This tutorial is just for you! For this coloring lesson, I decided to follow through with an entire card tutorial!  I used my own digital stamps from my new releases!

• Copics: E33, E31, E30
• Prismacolor Pencils: Sienna Brown, Burnt Ochre, Light Umber, Beige, Chocolate, Cream, Blender Pencil

How'd I make that?

First of all I printed my digis from Photoshop onto GinaK cardstock. Before it even got out of the printer good I (very quickly) covered it with clear embossing powder. Shook it off and set with my heat tool.

I am attempting to color this fawn with the feathering technique. I don't claim this to be the "official" feathering technique, it's just the way I like to do it! I began coloring with my E33 and swished the areas that I want to be darker. Personally, (when doing this technique) I don't saturate my paper at first. I just applied the E33 by lightly swishing one layer.  ▼

Next up, is the mid-tone color which I choose to be E31.  I "swished" this color upwards into the darker color. I did about 2 (or so) layers of this, until it looked somewhat blended.  ▼

Next, I choose the highlight color E30 and swished that color into the E31 until it looked blended.  I went back over these 3 steps one more time to darken up a little bit.  ▼

The fawn could easily be complete now, but I prefer to add just a little bit more contrast with my Prismacolor pencils.  The prismacolor pencils come in 132 colors.  So when matching them up with your copics (342?) you just pick the closest color you can.   TIP: Always be sure you are done coloring with your copics before you start laying down your pencils.  Do not use your copics on top of colored pencils.  They will ruin.

I began with my darkest color, sienna brown, and colored in my dark areas over my copics.  ▼

Next I used my Burnt Ochre and colored in next to the darker color.   ▼

Next to that color, I layed down the Light Umber & Cream color.   ▼

I also added some beige in the very light areas, and Chocolate (just a very little bit) in the very dark areas.  Then I took my Prismacolor-less Blender and blended those pencils together.  The blender pencil really smooths out the pencil lines and make it looks soooo slick!!  I love this look!  ▼

Here you can see the difference in contrast that the colored pencils added!   ▼

Now, to continue with the rest of the card! I cut my paper to fit my 4x5.5" card and cut out 2 small hills freehand. I used my paper piercer to punch holes along the edge of the hills and embroidered lavender thread on the hilltops! Then glued it all down. ▼

Next up are those beautiful flower embellishments!  I LOVE being able to make my own flowers with my Nellie Snellen punches I just got from Darlene at Dutch Paper Crafts!  I have 2 flower sets.  See one full set in the photo below.  The larger punch (on the right) punches your flower.  Next, you place that flower face down in the matching embossing punch.  It adds beautiful texture and curls your petals perfectly!!  Then you do the same with the smaller size flower punch and embosser.  It also has a stamen punch, which is the smallest punch in the photo.  The leaf punch is not shown b/c I didn't use it in this particular card.  ▼

Here are the pieces I made for this card. The 2nd flower set has odd shaped petals and has extra dimension. It also has a stamen and leaf punch, but I didn't use it here. I absolutely love these punches and the ability to make my own flowers to match anything I make!! ▼

Next up is my little bunny foo foo! When cutting him out I cut off his outer eyelashes and whiskers - on purpose! Not in a mean way, I plan to give him new ones w/a little "hare" replacement surgery!! (hehehe, couldn't resist that one!) Oh, I needed to mention that I colored him with my V0000 and VR0000 copics. I wanted him to look white with a pinkish tint! In this photo below, I wanted to show how I put his "falsies" on! I cut some fishing line and colored it with my black sharpie marker. I did a little strip of tape from a tape runner and used my tweezers to place his new "hare" into perfect position! ▼

Next, I used my precision tip Cutter Bee scissors to cut out my little fawn to go next to my little bunny!  See you can't even tell bunny has had any surgery!!  ▼

I used some 3D foam tape and cut it into pieces small enough to fit the back of my fawn and bunny. ▼

I printed my sentiment from my computer onto GinaK cardstock and then cut with my Nestibilities blossom die.  I sponged the edges with Memento Angel Pink with my little finger dauber!  ▼

I assembled all the pieces to my card!  I stuck on the bunny & fawn.  Then glued on my pretty flowers!  I just LOVE how the stick up from the paper!  I also HAD to add a little piece of cotton my fur-babies tail! ▼

Stamp Swap - Lindsay!

For my next stamp swap I traded with Lindsay from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. She also designs for My Graphico.
I chose Lindsay's beautiful set of Fancy Flowers b/c Daffodils are my most favorite flower and seeing them in this mason jar just reminds me of Granny!! Be sure to visit Lindsay's blog for tons of inspiration!
For this 4x5.5" card I created a little end table in photoshop with basic drawing tools and set my jar on top of the table. The font is Monika. I printed this little scene out onto GinaK 80# pure luxury cardstock and cut with Nestablilities Die Cut Labels 8 (mega). I printed the daffodils again by themselves (same size) onto GinaK 120# heavy cardstock - colored and cut out with sharp blade. I covered the table with a little scrap of paper and made some nice trim with "fibers" by Paper Studio. I colored the jar with Copics BG34,32 & B02 to mix in a little faint blue water! The stems are G24,28 & the flowers are Y17,15. I used YG01 to go around the flowers and jar (& edge of nestie frame) to give it a glow effect. I also used a Yellow Gel Glitter Pen by Inc. Starlightz (from walmart) for glitter on sentiment, a little on the flower petals and around the outside border of the nestie frame. I colored both flowers & jars b/c you can still see the one below when you look at an angle. I used 3D foam squares to place top flowers. It adds a nice 3D look to the card and you get that extra "shadow" effect which is nice! Also the background patterned paper is 6x6 Everyday Blessings by PaperTrey Ink.

Stamp Swap - Linda!

I participated in my first "stamp swap" this week with 2 lovely ladies.. Linda Of Tortagialla and Lindsay of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. In this post I'll show you the card I made with Linda's adorable 5 piece Owl digi stamp set! Linda has some really creative crafty inspiration on her blog here!
First of all, I created the owls & branch scene in Photoshop. I knew my card was going to a bigger size 5x7 b/c I wanted to use ALL of the cute little owls. I couldn't leave any of them out!! The tree branch came from Obsidian Dawn. The font used was Bewitched. After I got the owls sitting on the branch like I wanted I printed the piece onto GinaK 80# pure luxury cardstock.
Next step was to die cut with Nestabilities Labels 8 (mega). I colored with too many copics to mention! But generally just bright/fun colors! Then I covered the branch with my clear zip dry glue and sprinkled on my Sugar Coating brown glitter in "bon bon"! I went around the border with my lavender copic (I tried to match my lavender ribbon) Then did faux stitching around the border with a fine tip purple marker. Then I tied my lavender bow with my bow easy that I got from Susanna's Custom Art & Card Designs!

Be sure to read my tutorial on How to Layer Digis in Word Not everyone has Photoshop or other photo editing program and Word is a very useful tool for printing your digi stamps!  Here are a couple of coloring samples to inspire you!

Blue & Green Cake:  BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01 For the Greens: G09, G07, G05, G03, G02  I used C3 for the platter and silver stickles!  Then orange stickles on the tweely at the top!

Pink & Orange Cake: RV29, RV14, RV23, RV21 then YR09, YR07, YR15, YR12, YR04 I used C3 on the platter with silver stickles!

Colored Robin Eggs!

Copics used: B02, B01, B00, E25, E29, E49 & "speckled" eggs with brown colored pencil.

Applying Copics to Make up!!

I hope you enjoy the new digi stamp set I released yesterday... Make up! I wanted to share a little bit about how I colored these digis blending 2 different copic colors from 2 different families. You see how the purple and blues run together? Well to achieve this look I used the feathering technique as opposed to the saturation blending technique.

Oh, you like my silver mirror on my compact too? I'll get to that in a sec! First let's talk about the coloring! =) Let's start with the lipstick! I used RV14,13 for the pink lipstick.  Y17,15 for the gold tube. Finally I used B02, B63 & B66 for the feathering technique.  I started by feathering the B02 from the bottom upward, not worrying about saturating the paper.  Next, I used B63 and feathered from the top toward the middle.   The 2 colors started blending nicely in the middle after several layers of this "swishing".  I then used a little touch of B66 for the darker parts of the purple area.

I used the same array of colors for the mascara, & perfume you'll see below.

On the perfume bottle I added a couple more blues to the mix, B05, & B04. I used the same feathering technique with several layers.

Same colors used on the compact, but for the shiny mirror I used "making memories" paint effects kit (silver). I first colored the mirror with a cool gray copic C3. Then used a little paint brush and painted several layers of the metallic silver paint, drying between each layer.

Then finally the nail polish bottle! There are so many possibilities for coloring this one! I used RV29,25,14,13 & Y17,15 for the cap. Wouldn't it be pretty to coat this bottle with your crystal 3D laquer? Oh, you could even put your own "label" on the bottle!! Neato! I'd love to see what you do with it!!
