July Challenge Card - Calf

Tiffany Doodles July Challenge - All Creatures Great & Small
I kept this card really simple!  I used the Calf Digital Stamp on kraft cardstock and colored spots on him with a pink tongue!  I made this into a little boy card with the blue gingham ruffle ribbon.  The font used is Pupcat.  Be sure to visit my Design Team Members sites to see their beautiful cards for this challenge!  If you would like to join us for this challenge - get all the deets here.

June Card for Tiffany Doodles

This is my card for the June Summer Card Challenge at Tiffany Doodles! I used the Watermelon & Crab Digital Stamps for this fun summer card! Both of these stamps are in the $1 Doodle Bowl too!! I colored this card with my Copic markers. This time I did the layout in Photoshop along with the sentiment. Hope you like it! Bluebird Baby Rescue!

 

Today as I was feeding the chickens I noticed this little guy hopping around by my garden shed.  His little baby wing was slightly injured so I picked him up (before my rooster saw him) and was thinking about what to do.  I looked out into the field and saw a bluebird dancing around my cat, Ally's, head.  I ran out there and got Ally away from the other bluebird baby as it flew away!  So I realized that today was "flying lessons" for these 2 babies!  I watched them for a little while and throughout the day - out in the field and the nearby wooded area.  They were so cute!

Baby Owl Rescue!

Someone found this baby owl in the road and brought it to me thinking I would know what to do! The only thing I knew to do was to take it to the Animal Rescue Shelter. He was so cute and I really wanted to keep him (like I do all critters), but I figured he needed some special care!

Francie watches TV!

I took a video clip of my brand new biddies (april 2011) and was checking it out on my computer and Francie insisted on having a front row seat!!

Hand Stitched Linen Napkins!

I did a monogram on these napkins. This was my first try at the satin stitch and I need LOTS of practice on this one! But it was still fun!

Hand Towel Apron!

I bought a pretty blue hand towel and sewed on a pocket with trim and some trim for the tie! Easy!! and FUN!

Sundresses for the Girls!

These pics were from early May before it got too hot for the girls to be out. They LOVE going on boat rides! For this trip they had on their new pink sundresses! You can't see, but they had sequined anchors on the backs! So Cute!

Embroidered Bird Pillow!

I hand stitched this pillow by the instructions in a booklet. This was my first try at making a pillow. Some of my stem stitches could have been better. I think I should have been closer to the edges. Anyway, I have enough fabric to try this one again.

Ally!

Painted Bunting at my feeder!

I haven't seen a painted bunting since I lived in south Florida!  I was so delighted to see this little guy hanging around all morning with his girl too (not pictured).  The photo quality is not that great but you can still see him pretty good!  I didn't see him again after this day.  I love painted buntings, they have every color in the rainbow!

Owen's Room Pennant Banner!

I sewed this for Owen's 2nd Birthday!  Happy Birthday little man!  This was really easy to make!

Floor Scissors?

Friday we saw a yard sale that looked liked they had a lot of tools. So, of course, we had to stop! And look what we found for $5 bucks!! Weed cutters! David expects they are from the 50's or 60's. What a great invention! They are surprisingly easy to squeeze and very sharp!  Cuts weeds like butter!!  I call them my floor scissors! Cool huh?

Berry Sweet!!

A new twist on Strawberries, Fresh Mozzarella and a yummy Mint Pesto Drizzle!!

When I saw this recipe I just had to try it! I LOVE recipes that put together items that you would NEVER have thought of... those are almost always the recipes I can't wait to try!! Like this one! I made it over this past weekend when my sister, Laura, and her boyfriend, JK came to visit. Everyone LOVED it so I thought I would share it with all of you!! =)

• 1 lb straweberries, sliced
• 2 tablesspoons plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar
• 1 cup EVOO Extra Virgin Olive Oil
• 1 cup mint leaves, loosely packed, plus extra for garnish
• 1/4 cup almonds, sliced
• 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
• 1 clove garlic
• 1 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, 1/2" slices
• 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1. Combine strawberries and sugar in large bowl. Cover and set aside.
2. In a food processor, combine olive oil, mint leaves, almonds, Parmesan and garlic.
3. Layer mozzarella on plate. Spoon strawberries, mint pesto and balsamic vinegar over top. Garnish with mint leaves.

The Royal Wedding!

In case you didn't get up at 4:00 a.m. this morning to watch the Royal Wedding visit the Royal You Tube channel and watch the rebroadcast!  So beautiful!  I couldn't help but get teary to think of Diana and how proud she would be today.

Boat Ride with the Girls!

We took a boat ride Sunday afternoon and decided that b/c it wasn't too hot that we would take the girls with us!!! So I put their sundresses on and packed up some water, snacks, pillows, towels and all the necessities you might need when taking your babies on a little outdoor adventure! We had such a great time! It got a little toasty at some points. Luckily, I had my little mini parasol to shade the girls! This was their first time on a river boat ride and they both LOVED it! Francie wanted to be right up front where she could see everything! Emma, as I expected, stayed very close so it was very difficult to get a pic of her as you will see below.

We saw all kinds of wildlife along the way. But the most exciting moment of the day was when we rounded a bend and saw a 10 foot alligator sunning on the bank of the river. As we approached it slowly eased into the river. I had my camera totally ready, but goofed and missed the shot b/c I simply couldn't believe my eyes! My whole life I've heard of gators being around the swampy areas of the river. But this was the first time I've ever seen one!! It was so exciting! Sorry I don't have a pic! =(

Wisteria & Baby Shoes!

The wisteria has been so pretty this year. It only lasts a little more than a week when it blooms then it's gone before you know it! I love wisteria b/c it's so colorful and vibrant, it smells so sweet, and you can hear it!! That's right!! It is swarming with big ol' bumble bees. Just buzzing and buzzing! For those of you who aren't familiar with wisteria. It grows WILD all over the south and can completely cover an entire wooded area with purple! On my Granny's dirt road it is completely lined in purple, from down in the ditches to the tops of the trees! To share with you how it smells, well, just think of lavender and add a bit more sweetness to it!

As I was photographing the wisteria on this old run down log cabin I looked down at my feet and saw this little baby shoe, as I looked closer I noticed there were quite a few of them hiding in the leaves and debris. In this photo I think I counted 1 dozen shoes. How many do you see? (click to enlarge)

TD11 - Turquoise Challenge!

Turquoise is my favorite color (besides pink, yellow & periwinkle blue!)  So this was a fun challenge to use the various shades of turquoise on this palette here:

For my card I used the Clouds set and the Lamb Digital Stamp.  It's hard to tell on this photo but the colors came from the palette!  This was the first card I have made that I colored completely in Photoshop.  I printed out some extra clouds to make them 3d!  I lined those with my clear glitter pen.  I used my grass punch for the grass! =)  Hope you like it and I hope it inspires you to participate in this challenge!
