A Cow Ant in my Garden!

It's been so hot lately that I haven't been in the garden as much (except in the evenings to water). But the other day I wondered out there while walking the girls and I saw a big cow ant! We see cow ants all the time around here, but maybe some of you don't so I thought I'd share this photo. This one is about the size of a large paper clip. Don't ever let one of these bite you. It can be very painful, or so I have heard. They are hard to kill too. You can just about beat it to death without it even flinching. You can even cut it in half and both ends will keep crawling. The back end will give out first though. If you leave them alone though, they will just keep passing through on their merry way, just doing their cow ant thing. Ps. I don't usually kill them, unless they charge at me! =)

Garden Shed Yard

What a beautiful day! Things are warming up quickly! I picked up these 2 chairs from the Plunderosa! Laura and I took Granny to town and had lunch and did a little shopping. I got these for $9.50 each. David tighten them up a bit and I plan to refinish them and paint something pretty on them!

Inside my Garden Shed

Here are a few shots of the inside of my garden shed. It is still a work in progress. The windows and doors all came from a trash pile on the side of the road! Of course David saw them as instant treasure!

Garden Shed Signs

I'm slowly getting the inside of my garden shed in working order. I'll do more photos as I get things done. I like having old timey signs on my old walls. Here are a couple of shots I took the other day.

Lizard

I saw this lizard on a fern in my garden shed. He looked so peaceful just resting on that leaf. I didn't point him out to the girls.

 

Fairy Door!

I found a blank wood fairy door (one of the many unfinished wood projects) in Hobby Lobby the other day and thought.. "what garden shed would be complete without a door for the fairy's to come in and out of!" I used acryllics and tried to make it look like it's a little weathered! I will find the perfect spot for it, of course, it has to be convenient for the fairys, or any keebler elves that decide to visit!

Free Weeds

My cousin Melynda used to have a small sign by her front porch by her flowers that said "free weeds - you pick!" I always thought that was so cute and I wanted one!
So, at Hobby Lobby I picked up 2 small blank wood pieces and a small wood stake. I painted my own sign with acrylic paint and glued the pieces together with gorilla wood glue and then put a finish on it. This will go somewhere in my garden, not sure of the perfect spot yet, but I'll let you know!

My Garden Shed

I spent the day in my Garden Shed putting out some plants (that I hope made it through the winter) and will start growing soon!



In this shot you can see my chevy tailgate bench that David made for me! I love that! I love his creativity!





I'm sure all of my little trinkets and what-nots are not in their final positions. I'll probably always be moving stuff around! That's what makes it fun! Who know what things will look like by the end of the summer!




In this photo you can see where the water drains through that pipe out of my sink. I can simply put a plant right below that for a little water! "Waste not, want not", that's what Granny always says!





I love going in Hobby Lobby to find unique little planters! Like this shoe! Perfect for a pretty little succulent!



They also have tons of garden signs! I only buy when everything is 50% off, which is all the time!! I love that store!

I took a few interesting shots of my garden shed to show some of it fun characteristics. I can't wait to get some things planted!

Girls help in the Garden!

The girls helped plant the daffodils! They keep a eye out for any lizard, or grasshopper that comes close! They smelled every bulb and gave me their approval before it went in the ground!

My Garden Shed

My Garden Shed! This will be the first full season that I get to really use it! This was my birthday present from David last year! He's so good to me! I can't wait to get flowers growing everywhere!

I put a little bunny in front of the gate! Cute!

Can you see my bench beneath the window? David built that from an old chevy tailgate. Right in front of that area, under the canopy, is where we'll plant a small (very beginner) vegetable garden!! Potatoes, broccoli, and butterbeans for sure!!
