My Garden Shed

I spent the day in my Garden Shed putting out some plants (that I hope made it through the winter) and will start growing soon!



In this shot you can see my chevy tailgate bench that David made for me! I love that! I love his creativity!





I'm sure all of my little trinkets and what-nots are not in their final positions. I'll probably always be moving stuff around! That's what makes it fun! Who know what things will look like by the end of the summer!




In this photo you can see where the water drains through that pipe out of my sink. I can simply put a plant right below that for a little water! "Waste not, want not", that's what Granny always says!





I love going in Hobby Lobby to find unique little planters! Like this shoe! Perfect for a pretty little succulent!



They also have tons of garden signs! I only buy when everything is 50% off, which is all the time!! I love that store!

Old House

We went to visit a friend the other day and I photographed this really old home on his property. Kinda looks like the fireplace was built on the wrong side! I added an a washout sepia tone to these pics.

Powderhouse

Have you ever heard the phrase "as dry as a powderhouse"? Well, this is where that term comes from. This is a photo of a real Powderhouse. This is where they stored the powder they used to mine for limestone in this area many years ago. They had to keep the powder dry at all times or it would be no good.

We saw a snake slithering around in there but I don't know what kind it was.

Blue Springs!

Blue Springs is practically in the backyard of a friend of ours. It is so beautiful and clear! You can see straight through to the limestone! These springs are 100% bacteria free! I scooped up a big glass and drank it down!

In these 2 photos you can see the head of the spring! And there are tons of little bubbles where the water is coming up!




This is our friends dog, Josie!






Of course, I had to put my feet in!



Here you can see where the springs run into other water from Beaver Creek.




I can't wait to come back here this summer!!

Planting Bulbs

Today we spent the day in the yard. I planted some calla lillies next to my garden shed porch (3 bulbs) and red poppies next to the water hose pot. This post is really just for my gardening calendar reference.

Leeah

Jimmy, Mandy & Leeah dropped by today. Leeah is wearing the bathingsuit that my Mom bought her! It finally fits, but she'll be growing out of it very soon! Cornbread and the girls were all amused by her!

Boat Ride at Home

David took me for a spin around the pond today! The weather was so nice! Really warm! The girls rode with us!



This was a first experience for the girls! I took a quick pic of Francie! Emma wouldn't even get out of my lap! She was a little apprehensive. Of course, Francie wanted to get out and explore things!!

Cornbread!

This is our home security system! Cornbread! He hangs out all over our place! We try to keep him fed b/c, as you can see, he is about to starve to death! He is SO friendly, you literally cannot take a step without him under your feet. He will follow you everywhere you go. The other day he helped me plant bulbs out by the barn. I'm so allergic to him but I can't help but love him! He's a really good cat!

Lotus Flower

Today I painted this small 4x5 lotus flower on hot pressed paper which is much smoother than regular water color paper. It looks better than I thought it might. It's hard to paint a flower that has a lot of white in it b/c you just have to leave those places untouched. That's hard for me... I want to paint it all!!

Sunflowers

I painted these sunflowers yesterday for David! I used my watercolors on 140lb 11x15 cold press paper. I just painted by looking at a picture. Enjoy!

Little Cow

I saw this adorable little cow at the livestock auction in Metter the other week. I wish I could have brought him home!! We still have yet to build our fence out in the field to keep a few cows and a horse.

 

My girls!

I took these shots of the girls today. Emma wanted to stay in my lap all day. Some days she is like that. She is a little angel!

 

Everytime I took one of Francie she made a funny face! The first one looks like she is laughing! She's such a little button!

 

4x4 Easter Basket

David loves his 4x4 trucks and military trucks, so I got him this military hummer easter basket! Filled with his favorite! Hershey's kisses!

Garden Shed

I took a few interesting shots of my garden shed to show some of it fun characteristics. I can't wait to get some things planted!

David on his tractor!

Granny needed some help to smooth out her driveway. It had gotten so bumby over the years. So David brought his tractor over and fixed it up for Granny! She sure does appreciate the things he does for her!

He also plowed up a nice garden spot for her to plant some veggies! She's given me lots of tips for my own veggie garden I'll be started in a couple of weeks!

Girls help in the Garden!

The girls helped plant the daffodils! They keep a eye out for any lizard, or grasshopper that comes close! They smelled every bulb and gave me their approval before it went in the ground!

New Blog Design

I created "new clothes" for my blog! I gave it a country, gardeny feel. Of course being a designer, the design will never really be "done", but always evolving. There are still a few tweeks i want to make. Subscribe to my RSS feed and you'll always know when I post something new!

Daffodils have been planted!

I finally got my Valentines's flowers (daffodils) planted this past Thursday!
David plowed up a row along my fenceline. I didn't have quite enough to make it all the way around on the right, but i figured that i can always divide them when fall arrives and make more! That's why I love bulbs!

The little forks in the ground are where I also planted a colorful variety of daylilies!! I know you are suppose to plant them in fall, but we'll see if they come up! I thought they would come up and last all summer after the daffodils fade away.

David also got me this cute little bunny for my garden!! Surprisingly, we've only seen 1 real rabbit since we've lived here.
