Hummingbird Rescue!

Yet another bird rescue event! This tiny Ruby Throated Hummingbird was trapped inside my garden shed. Even with the doors wide open he wouldn't go that direction. I do believe he had some kind of injury b/c he landed in an empty planter and couldn't manage to fly back out, although he tried.

So I picked up the planter and took it outside thinking he would just fly away when he saw the sky. He didn't. So, I picked him up and managed to get this pic of me holding him before he flew off into the woods. I sure hope he is doing alright!

Nap time for the girls!

These two are inseparable! This is their usual spot on the back of the couch right behind me! I think sometimes they get annoyed with all my picture taking shenanigans! They both had a birthday last month. They are 2 weeks apart! 5 years old! I can't believe it. They grow up so fast! =)

Homemade Mother's Day Cards

I handmade my Mother's Day cards this year. I decided to quill some pretty flowers for the covers. The insides don't match the look of the covers, nor do the envelopes match either. But I don't claim to be a pro card maker or scrapbooker kinda girl. Anyway, this first one was for Mom and the second for Granny.

This was Granny's card.

Then I wrapped their little gifts in pretty papers.

It was a good day!

Song of the Whippoorwill

David and I were grilling out on the deck for our usual "date night" and we heard a whippoorwill in the woods next to us! It sounded closer than any one I had heard before. I hope you can hear it good on this video clip! That is 1 of my favorite sounds in the world! What a comfort to hear! Nothing says "warm summer nights in the country" like the sound of a whippoorwill!! Click here for Whippoorwill info!

Lavender Bottle Collection

I've recently decided that I want to collect old bottles, the lavender ones in particular. I'm sure I'll end up with lots of hue's but this is what I'm starting with for now! David and I found a fantastic flea market, Keller's, in Savannah. We found a seperate section in the very back that was nothing but antiques, just slam full of them. We'll definitley be going back there!

Diamond Wine Stoppers

How do ya like these wine corks? I think they're great! My Mom picked them up for me. I think she got them from World Market. I thought they were too pretty not share! I love sparkly stuff!

I painted this stool!

I found this stool in some of David's storage. It belonged to his close relative and dear friend, Ronnie. David didn't mind if I wanted to paint it!! Yippee! So, this is what I did! I wanted to use bright and bold colors and I also added a little metallic gold! I used all Americana acrylic paints with a spray gloss top coat!

On the top I used a dragonfly punch and punch tiny dragonflys into my blue painters tape to make a tiny stencil. Then painted them onto some of the circles! Then did little stars in the middle. Do you like it?

Wildflowers from a box!

Granny bought a box of wildflower seeds from the Dollar General for $1.00! This is what she got! They are about 5ft tall and just stunning! They look like crepe paper ... so thin and delicate!
Does anybody know what kinds these are? I took bunches of shots! Enjoy!

Look closley at the bug eating on the flower petal!

More Daylilies!

I planted three varieties of daylilies this year. You already saw the bright yellow with orange details a few days ago. Well..... look what I have now!! This is a beautiful deep red, it takes my breath away!

This third variety is similar to the other yellow, but this one has much more orange.

When I bought these bulbs I didn't know they were of the asiatic persuasion. I was hoping for the ones that are more of the old fashioned mounding type.

It's Strawberry Season!!

My friend, Bina and I went not far down the road to Jacob's Produce to pick our own strawberries! I got a bucket full and they are so sweet! I hand picked and chose each one based on it's deep red color and perfect shape and size!

Can't you just taste them now!! I'll be looking up some strawberry recipes tonight!

Strawberry fields forever....

Chocolate dipped strawberries .... for sure!!!
